Mobile Yard Ramp

A portable loading solution where there is no dock

Not every facility has a dock structure, and sometimes the existing dock is not enough at peak season. A mobile ramp builds a temporary but safe bridge between the ground and the vehicle bed without any construction work. Because it is on wheels it can be moved between doors, and even between sites.

  • No fixed dock structure needed: the forklift drives straight from the ground into the vehicle
  • Hydraulic height adjustment suits different trailer and container heights
  • Open grating deck: water does not collect in rain or snow, reducing the risk of slipping
  • On wheels and with a towing eye, it can be moved between doors or sites

Fixed ramp or mobile ramp?

A fixed ramp (hinged or telescopic) requires a dock pit and concrete preparation; in return it gives a permanent, fast and comfortable loading point. A mobile ramp needs no construction work and can be towed to another door by a forklift. Where the daily vehicle count is high and the loading point is fixed, choose a fixed ramp; where there is no dock structure, where the loading point changes, or where extra seasonal capacity is needed, the mobile ramp is the right choice.

Points to watch in use

  • The ground under the ramp must be firm and level; on soil or loose ground the wheels sink in
  • The vehicle handbrake must be applied, wheel chocks placed, and the ramp secured to the vehicle with the safety chain
  • Bed height is set with the hydraulic unit; the slope is checked while the lip sits fully on the bed
  • The forklift capacity plus the load weight must not exceed the ramp capacity

Maintenance

  • The hydraulic level and hose connections are checked regularly
  • Mud and ice are cleared from the grating deck; its grip depends on this
  • Tyre pressure and the towing eye connection are reviewed before moving the ramp
  • If the safety chain or the side curbs show deformation, the part is replaced

Capacity, length and height range are selected according to the vehicles that pull in and the ground conditions. During the survey we see the site and choose the right class together.
