How it differs from a hinged leveller

The platform and the hydraulics of the two ramps are similar; the difference lies in how the lip works. The hinged lip folds down onto the trailer bed and needs free space at the rear of the load to rest on. The telescopic lip slides out horizontally from beneath the platform, extends only as far as required and rests right beside the load. Where the vehicle cannot pull in to the same spot every time, or where trailers are fully loaded, that is exactly where the difference shows.

Where does it make a difference?

• On trailers loaded to the rear: the lip rests beside the load, not in front of it
• With varying trailer lengths: the extension is adjustable in steps, so one ramp is enough
• In cold stores: with the lip retracted the door closes fully onto its seal, cutting heat loss
• At narrow docks with side-by-side loading: the margin for positioning error is smaller

Maintenance and safety

• The slide rails and wear pads should be cleaned and lubricated periodically
• Hose burst protection prevents a sudden drop under load
• The maintenance strut makes working underneath the platform safe
• Lip edge and rail wear are reviewed at the six-monthly checks
